Abstract
The expansion of the notion of “avatar” in contemporary culture has gener- ated dilemmas that distort the distance between reality and illusion as it was known until the beginning of the 21st century. This problem extends from the recent pos- tulates of science and technology to semiotic and philosophical studies. In itself, it involves questions about what is represented, representation, perception, the being that represents, and experience. The discussion given in this article is an approxima- tion, in the context of these dilemmas, to experience as evidence of what is true in a doubly illusory environment: virtual reality.
